Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said of Friday that the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance was prepared fully for early elections in the state.

Amid media reports regarding possibility of early assembly elections, Badal, while interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of 'Sangat Darshan' program in Lambi assembly segment in Muktsar district, said his party was ready for elections at any time.

Elections to the 117-member Punjab assembly are likely to be held in February-March 2017.

The Akali Dal-BJP government in Punjab led by Badal, which has been in power since 2007, has drawn flak in recent months due to law and order situation arising out of incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, build up of radical elements, protests by farmers and employees and radicals and increase in crime.
