Most parts of Odisha will receive rains till Friday even as the cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal weakened to a deep depression, an IMD bulletin said today.

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha will receive rains till Friday even as the cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal weakened to a deep depression, an IMD bulletin said today.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in coastal Odisha. Rain or thundershower is also likely at a few places in other districts, it said.

The deep depression over west-central Bay of Bengal today moved further west-southwestwards and lay centred at about 415 km south of Gopalpur.

"It is most likely to move west-southwestwards and weaken further into a depression in the next 24 hours," the IMD report said.

Distant Cautionary Signal Number 1 (DC-I) was kept hoisted at all ports in Odisha. Surface winds from southeast, with speed reaching 45 to 50 kmph with gusts of 55 kmph will prevail along and off south Odisha coast, and 35 to 45 kmph gusts over North Odisha coast.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea off south Odisha coast and were also told to be cautious while venturing into the sea off north Odisha coast as sea condition will be rough to very rough.
