Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said that those found to be guilty in the SUM hospital fire mishap case won't be spared.

 

Five people including the owner have been arrested, strict action will be taken against those found to be guilty, Naveen Patnaik,Odisha CM told reporters.

Patnaik's remarks came shortly after the SUM Hospital owner Manoj Nayak surrendered before the Odisha Police in connection with the case.

The Odisha Police had issued a Look Out notice against Nayak and his wife Saswati Das, the founders of SUM Hospital.

Manoj Nayak and his wife own the hospital where 21 people died in a fire on Monday evening.

Both are the trustees of Siksha 'O' Anusandhan Charitable Trust, which runs the hospital.

The Odisha government has already lodged two FIRs against the hospital management, citing negligence in terms of fire safety and evacuation of patients during the mishap.

The Commissionerate Police have already arrested four persons so far in connection with the fire tragedy.

Medical Superintendent Pusparaj Samantasinghar, former Executive Engineer Amulya Kumar Sahu (electrical maintenance), Fire Safety Officer Santosh Das and retired Junior Engineer Malay Kumar Sahu (electrical maintenance) were arrested on Tuesday.
