New Delhi: Congress political honchos including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi are all set to woo the Mizoram voters ahead of Assembly elections on November 25.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Luizinho Faleiro told the media persons that Sonia Gandhi would be arriving in Mizoram on November 18 to address the rally at Lunglei town.
Later, Rahul will begin his campaign in the state on November 21 and address rallies at Champai town in Mizoram-Myanmar border and at Kolasib town in Mizoram-Assam border.
At present, scheduled programme for the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not yet finalised.
AICC leader further added that it might not be possible to arrange the rallies chaired by the local forums of Mizoram People`s Forum (MPF). The three leaders are under the protection of the Special Protection Group (SPG) and they have to follow its norms.
MPF, the church-backed election watchdog, has been ensuring for years that polling is carried out in a fair way.
Opposition parties including Mizo National Front (MNF) have criticised the Congress leaders for not following the norms of MPF during the 2008 Assembly polls.
On the other hand, earlier in the day BJP declared that it would contest 11 seats in the coming elections to the 40-member Mizoram legislature.
