Zynga sues Facebook`s Bang With Friends app developers for infringing games` trademark

Social game service Zynga has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Facebook`s casual sex app ` Bang With Friends` (BWF) for infringing its trademark of `with friends` family of games.

Wellington: Social game service Zynga has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Facebook`s casual sex app ` Bang With Friends` (BWF) for infringing its trademark of `with friends` family of games.

According to Stuff.co.nz, the complaint says that BWF developers selected the name of the app with Zynga`s game trademark fully in mind and infringes a trademark covering games such as Words With Friends and Chess With Friends.

The report said that Zynga is seeking court order barring the company from using the name BWF in connection with any social-networking applications in the US and unspecified damages.

Meanwhile, BWF said that as a technology company they take intellectual property seriously and they will evaluate the case in detail.

The BWF registered its internet domain name last year while Zynga was the largest maker of games played on Facebook at the time of its IPO in December 2011.

Zynga`s deputy general counsel, Renee Lawson said that the company has filed a lawsuit to stop blatant infringement of its valuable `With Friends` brand and to prevent further consumer confusion and protect its intellectual property rights against infringement, the report added.
