Opera's new power saving mode promises up to 50% longer battery life

New Delhi: Competing strongly against Google, Apple, Microsoft and other tech giants, Opera is all set to catch consumers' eyeballs with its latest power saving mode.

According to the Verge reports, Opera recently introduced a dedicated power saving mode for its popular desktop browser which offers an increased Windows laptop's battery life by up to 50 percent, compared to Google's Chrome.

The company claims that the power saving comes from a range of tweaks, including reducing memory consumption by background tabs, paused unused plug-ins, and optimizing video playback.

This exciting feature won't be enabled by default, but whenever the power cable is unplugged a blue battery icon will appear next to the browser's address bar.

The browser will also indicate turning on power saving mode when the desktop's battery is running low.

In addition to this, Opera also updated browser's VPN experience and is now part of the private browsing mode.
