Netflix unveils `five profile` feature through single account

Netflix has reportedly come up with a new feature to its service that allows users to split up their old account to upto five different profiles sharing the single 8 dollars-per-month account.

Washington: The world`s leading internet television network, Netflix has reportedly come up with a new feature to its service that allows users to split up their old account to upto five different profiles sharing the single 8 dollars-per-month account.

According to the Fox News, the new feature allows for the division within one account at no extra cost and the company is hoping that its 37.6 million worldwide subscribers will use the feature because it will help Netflix`s recommendation system gain a better understanding of the different tastes of viewers using the same account.

The report said that the feature will only be available on Netflix`s own website and several other viewing outlets, including the iPad, iPhone, etc. initially and may take up to two weeks before the profiles choice pops up in these options.

Netflix`s chief product officer, Neil Hunt said that if the kids have been watching their choice of shows through parents` account then that doesn`t help the company to recommend the parents about their choice of shows.

The new feature will allow multiple users to share a common account and recommendations will be based on what they have previously watched as Netflix relies on viewers` own ratings of video, as well as computer-driven analyses of the genres previously watched.

The report added that the new profiles can also be used to link to each user`s Facebook account allowing Netflix users to see what the other people in their online social network have been watching.
