Facebook adds free group calling to Messenger app

New Delhi: Social network giant Facebook on Wednesday announced that it is starting to roll out free group voice calls to users of its Messenger app.

It said the latest feature will be available to all iOS and Android users worldwide for free over the next 24 hours.

“From any group conversations, just tap on the phone icon to initiate a group call. You can then manage individual participants on the next screen,” Messenger’s chief, David Marcus, wrote in a Facebook post about the feature.

As of now, group calls are currently limited to 50 participants, reports Mashable.

Facebook's new feature makes Messenger more competitive with other communication services like Google Hangouts, Skype, and Slack, which already offered group voice calls.
