Women Congress workers hold protest against Modi

Accusing Narendra Modi of "disrespecting women" by hiding his marital status for several years, women Congress workers on Friday held a protest and carried out a march in the city against the BJP prime ministerial candidate.

New Delhi: Accusing Narendra Modi of "disrespecting women" by hiding his marital status for several years, women Congress workers on Friday held a protest and carried out a march in the city against the BJP prime ministerial candidate.

"Modi did not disclose his wife`s name for years. She was not given her rights as a lawfully wedded wife for more than 40 years. This is against womene. We demand that Modi must apologies to the nation for what he has done," Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress (DPMC) president Onika Mehrotra said.

"He misguided people about his marital status. It proves that Modi hide facts from people," she said.

The protesters carried out a march towards ITO Crossing from DPCC office, raising slogans against Modi.

However, when they reached near ITO chowk, they were not allowed to move further by Police.

They said that on one side Modi talks about women empowerment and on the other side he dumped his wife, disrespecting women.

After the march, the Congress workers burned an effigy of Modi.
