New Delhi: Chorus for the removal of West Bengal Human Rights Commission chairman Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly continues to grow with Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena on Tuesday demanding the ex-Supreme Court judge resignation from the rights panel.

The former Supreme Court judge Ganguly is accused of sexually harassing a law intern. A Supreme Court committee of three judges had indicted Ganguly for his "unwelcome behaviour" and "conduct of sexual nature" towards the law intern. Ganguly has strongly denied the charge.

Asking Justice Ganguly to step down as the chairman of the state rights panel, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O`Brien today tweeted: “It will be apt if Justice AK Ganguly chose UN Human Rights Day today to step down, violators can`t be guardians.”

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also pitched for Ganguly’s resignation and said on moral grounds the ex-SC judge must step down.

Last week West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had written to President Pranab Mukherjee asking him to urgently take "appropriate action" against Ganguly over the "grave misconduct" allegations levelled by a young woman law intern.
