Trinamool will play decisive role in new Lok Sabha: Mukul Roy

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Saturday claimed that while CPI(M) will lose its relevance after the results of upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Mamata Banerjee-led party will play a decisive role at the national level.

"After the polls, the Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee`s leadership will play a decisive role in the formation of the new Lok Sabha," Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy told reporters here.
He said that after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, no leader from Bengal had the power to dictate terms at the Centre and the TMC would now have that strength.

"That is because people want the Trinamool Congress to become powerful," Roy said.

Claiming that the CPI(M) would lose relevance after the elections, Roy said "they will be decimated so much that you will not be able to find them even with a microscope."
He also alleged that the UPA government was buried deep in scams like the 2G and had wasted money.

Former Congress MP and party`s North 24 Parganas district president Debi Ghosal joined the TMC at a function here along with other party workers.

Welcoming him, Trinamool MP Saugata Roy said, "Trinamool Congress is the mainstream now. No one in Bengal can do politics outside the mainstream. Who will become the Prime Minister will be decided by our leader Mamata Banerjee."

Referring to the party`s rally at the Brigade Parade Grounds on January 30, he said that GJM President Bimal Gurung would be in attendance.
