New Delhi: In an apparent dig at Rahul Gandhi, BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday said there can be no alibi for non-performance of government on the economic front.

"There can be no alibi for non-performance on the economic front. Governments which fail to deliver on the economy tend to look for alibis," he said on twitter soon after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi addressed India Inc at an event.

Gandhi while stating that corruption is the "biggest issue" that is "bleeding people dry", today sought to reach out to the India Inc by saying that "arbitrary powers" were holding up projects.

The Congress Vice President favoured rule-based system in clearances to correct the situation and asserted that the UPA government was committed to deal with corruption and push growth.

Jaitley, while speaking at the same event earlier in the day hit out at the government for blaming the opposition for not allowing Parliament to function due to which important decisions were held up and said 90 per cent of the decisions to be taken were executive in nature and not due to legislative reasons.

He also said that India cannot afford a non-politician as a Prime Minister and the world`s largest democracy can`t be run on the pattern of corporates.
