Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to resign from his post on Tuesday over the state`s proposed division and may launch a new political party, reports said on Monday.
Speculation has been rife about the CM`s resignation in the wake of the Centre pushing ahead with the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy will resign immediately after the Telangana Bill is taken up for debate in Parliament tomorrow, Cabinet ministers loyal to him have said.
E Pratap Reddy, one of the state ministers from Seemandhra, said that Reddy, who is opposed to state`s division, will also float a new political party.
Meanwhile, the UPA government today said that Telangana Bill is likely to be taken up in Parliament tomorrow.
“Telangana Bill will come up for discussion in Lok Sabha on 18th. Those who want to oppose can do so in a parliamentary manner,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said.
The Central government had last Thursday tabled Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2013 in Lok Sabha amid unprecedented ruckus. An MP from Seemandhra used pepper spray and there was also a scuffle between lawmakers from Telangana and Seemandhra.
The incidents led to suspension of 16 MPs by the Speaker for the rest of the session.
