Strong pitch for compulsory military training

A strong pitch was made for an anti-terrorist military code and compulsory military training on Thursday.

New Delhi, Jan 22: A strong pitch was made for an
anti-terrorist military code and compulsory military training
on Thursday as nearly a hundred students of scouts and Guides
gathered here to take pledge on "war against terrorism" on the
eve of Subhash Chandra Bose`s birth anniversary.

Leading the gathering was anti-terrorist front chairman M
S Bitta, who said anti-terrorist military code will help in
the disposal of terror-related cases within six months unlike
the present procedures followed in the country.

"All school children after attaining their matriculation
should be imparted military training on the lines of Israel,"
he said.

Bitta also criticised politicians for their "double
standards" in tackling terrorism and particularly in the wake
of 26/11 Mumbai strikes.

He said the cabinet ministers and senior Congress leaders
like Arjun Singh and A R Antuley should have avoided their
comments on the heroes like M C Sharma and Mumbai ATS chief
Hemant Karkare.

A staunch Obama supporter, Bitta said the opportunity to
pressurise Pakistan on the issue of terrorism has come with
the US getting a new President, who is determined to fight the
menace.

The anti-terrorist front today also launched `Azadi
Bachao Aandolan` to carry forward the ideological values set
forth by Bose to put the nation on the path of independence.
