Shab-e-baraat celebrated across the country

The occasion of Shab-e-baraat (also known as Day of Atonement) was celebrated by Muslims across the country by offering prayers at mosques for the souls of the departed.

New Delhi: The occasion of Shab-e-baraat (also known as Day of Atonement) was celebrated by Muslims across the country by offering prayers at mosques for the souls of the departed.

Adequate arrangements were made this year to not let the occasion be dominated by hooliganism. Policemen were deployed in Delhi to keep an eye on the bikers as last year there was lot of nuisance caused by the bikers.
SBS Tyagi, the Additional Commissioner of Police, said, "We have put barricades in New Delhi area and are checking bikers who are riding without helmet and who are triple riding. We have also caught around 100 riders."
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung , had appealed to parents to make sure that their children don`t flout traffic rules during the occasion.
