Kolkata: Criticising the Railway budget presented on Tuesday, the CPI(M) today said that the Centre was trying to sell off the Railways to the corporates and foreign powers in the name of introduction of FDI.

"What has happened is unprecedented. The budget shows that the government is trying to sell off the Railways to foreign powers and corporates. It will have an effect on India`s sovereignty. The common people will face the heat," CPIM leader Surya Kanta Mishra said.
Mishra also attacked the Centre for not giving any new train or project to west Bengal.
"Bengal has been deprived and the eastern India too has been deprived. They are talking of golden quadrilateral, but how will it be possible if you deprive Kolkata, a metro city?" Mishra said.
