New Delhi: Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has not vacated his official bungalow C-II/23 at Tilak Lane, continues to face criticism.
Journalist-activist Madhu Kishwar on Friday slammed Kejriwal, who has batted for honesty and integrity in public life, for taking his friends` help to pay “market rent” of the CM bungalow.
In April, Kejriwal had revealed that some of his batchmates of the IIT Kharagpur are collectively paying Rs 80,000 as rent for his government bungalow in Delhi as he doesn`t have money.
However, Kishwar asked Kejriwal why is he living on charity when he and his wife earn.

Kejriwal had earlier told the directorate of estates that he would keep the accommodation till the exams of his daughter were over.
The Secretary of Public Works Department had issued a notoce to the AAP chief, asking him to pay rent from March 01, that is 15 days after he resigned from the chief minister`s post on February 14.
As per rules, former ministers can stay in official residences free of cost for 15 days after demitting office.
Afterwards, if they choose to stay there (maximum of six months), they are required to pay rent much higher than market rates.
