Over 90 million students participated in PM's September 05 speech

Over 90 million students and 8.5 lakh schools participated in the Teachers' Day (Sep 5) programme in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed students and teachers across the nation, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said Thursday.

New Delhi: Over 90 million students and 8.5 lakh schools participated in the Teachers' Day (Sep 5) programme in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed students and teachers across the nation, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said Thursday.

"According to the information received by various states, over 8.5 lakh schools participated in the programme on Sep 5. According to the data made available until now, 9,51,51,534 students participated the programme," she said

Irani was responding to a query on the number of students who attended the programme at a press conference highlighting the ministry's initiatives in the first 100 days here.

In the first such mass connect with students and teachers across the nation, Modi first addressed the students at the Manekshaw centre here, and then took questions from them live as well as through video conferencing on the occasion on Teachers' Day.
