New Delhi: Unique Identification Authority of India Chairman Nandan Nilekani is all set to join Congress party officially tomorrow ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, a report said on Saturday.

“Will be joining Congress tomorrow. I am running a very clean campaign, let EC look at BJP`s complaint,” Nilekani said.

Nilekani will be officially joining Congress at Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office in the presence of its president G Parameshwara, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other party leaders, the party said in a statement.

If given a ticket to contest from Bangalore South, Nilekani will have to face incumbent and five-time Member of Parliament from the Constituency, Ananth Kumar of the BJP.
Nilekani, a co-founder of software behemoth Infosys, has already launched campaign in Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency, from where he is tipped to take on Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ananth Kumar, who has won the seat five times.
Yesterday, Karnataka BJP had petitioned electoral authorities against Nilekani, tipped to be the Congress candidate from Bangalore in Lok Sabha polls, taking exception to his name and picture figuring with Aadhar Card advertisements, when the model code of conduct is in force.

"For the last 15 or 20 days Bangalore has been seeing various advertisements where Nandan Nilekani proclaims himself to be the giver of about 60 crore Aadhar cards to Indians," Karnataka BJP Co-spokesperson Malavika Avinash told reporters after complaining to Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha.
