Modi supporter files defamation case against CAG activist

A controversial Indian-American supporter of Narendra Modi has filed a defamation case against an activist of the Coalition Against Genocide for allegedly publishing "false" and "malicious" information about him.

Washington: A controversial Indian-American supporter of Narendra Modi has filed a defamation case against an activist of the Coalition Against Genocide for allegedly publishing "false" and "malicious" information about him.

Chicago-based entrepreneur Shalabh Kumar has sought a monetary compensation of USD 50,000 in his defamation case against CAG activist Biju Mathew.

An umbrella of more than a dozen Indian-American organizations, CAG has been campaigning against granting US visa to Modi, the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP, for his alleged role in the Gujarat riots in 2002.
The lawsuit comes in response to the press release issued by CAG on November 16.
