Meerut: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi saying the recent events paint a not-so rosy picture of the capital.

Taking on the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in his speech at Meerut rally, Modi said the death of the youth from Arunachal Pradesh and Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti`s misbehaviour with African women did not augur well for the capital.

The Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate said, “We need to see Delhi as a global city but due to the incidents that have happened in the past few days, our heads hang in shame.”

“A few days ago women from Africa were ill-treated, a boy from Arunachal was killed. This does not augur well.”

He lamented the death of Nido Taniam and said, “It is sad how the son of a North-Eastern state was killed in Delhi. Children of North East are our children.”

Attacking those that practice regionalism, he said, “People of Arunachal are fighting China and they greet each other by saying `Jai Hind`.”

Targeting the UPA government for not doing enough for people from the North East, he said, “Why is it that students from North East cannot get houses easily? Need of hour is to make hostels for them.”
