Moderate intensity quake on Indo-Myanmar border

Another moderate intensity quake rocked the Indo-Myanmar border, few kilometres away from Moreh in Manipur, early Thursday but there was no report of any casualty, officials said.

The quake measuring 4.8 on the Richter rocked the same area within 24 hours when a tremor of the same intensity rocked the area.
The quake had its epicentre in Myanmar side along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur`s Moreh border town and occurred at around 8:54 am, officials at the regional seismological centre here told a news agency.

They said the quake that last for a few seconds had its epicentre at a depth of about 10 km underneath the Earth`s crust at 24.4 N Latitude and 94.5 E Longitude.
Manipur and all the seven north eastern states of India are categorised under zone V in the country`s seismological map and hence considered highly active.

A moderate intensity quake had rocked the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur yesterday but there was no casualty.
