Missing girl: HC asks Delhi, Odisha police to file report

The Delhi High Court asked the city police and its Odisha counterpart to file a status report of their efforts, till next date of hearing, to trace a girl who is missing since 2010 after being brought here by a placement agency.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the city police and its Odisha counterpart to file a status report of their efforts, till next date of hearing, to trace a girl who is missing since 2010 after being brought here by a placement agency.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice BD Ahmed and Justice S Mridul said, "Delhi police and Kandhamal police shall file a status report indicating the efforts which they would undertake for recovering the girl, from today to next date of hearing."
Four girls, aged between 14 and 18, were trafficked to Delhi from Odisha by a placement agency.

Three, who were eventually rescued, were found to have been physically and sexually abused.

The parents of the fourth girl had filed a habeas corpus plea in the High Court, alleging that the Delhi and Odisha police have failed to trace the girl.
Earlier, the court had come down heavily on Delhi and Kandhamal police for their inability to trace the girl and had said it may order a CBI probe as the two agencies were not doing their duty "properly".
