New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday held the Congress-led UPA government responsible for misgovernance during its two terms in power at the Centre and said that Manmohan Singh was well-aware that this was his last press meet as the Prime Minister of the nation.
“PM knew this was his last conference. He is unable to hold the country`s faith. And this is them playing games to save themselves,” said Naidu.

Taking the Congress on, he said the press conference was an attempt to cover the UPA government`s failures and added, “The Congress and UPA are responsible for all the disasters in the country. Now they are accusing others.”
Earlier in the day, TDP Parliamentary Party Leader Nama Nageshwara Rao reacting to PM`s observation that Narendra Modi as Prime Minister will be disastrous for the nation, Rao said the country has suffered a disaster under Congress rule.

"The next government should clean up the disaster and lead the nation towards development," he noted. He also termed the press conference as an attempt to cover up the UPA`s government`s failures.

Addressing a press conference here, Manmohan Singh had said Modi as prime minister will be "disastrous" for the country.

"If you measure the strength of Prime Minister by presiding over mass massacre of innocent citizens on streets of Ahmedabad, then I do not believe in it... I do not think that this kind of strength this country needs least from its Prime Minister," Singh had said.
