General Elections: BJP-Shiv Sena to do well in Maharashtra; AAP losing popularity

It seems the NaMo wave is gaining strength as the General Elections are coming closer, with a fresh poll survey conducted by a leading news channel predicting the BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI alliance to win at least 23 to 29 seats, while the Congress-NCP would bag between 16-22 seats in Maharashtra.

New Delhi: It seems the NaMo wave is gaining strength as the General Elections are coming closer, with a fresh poll survey conducted by a leading news channel predicting the BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI alliance to win at least 23 to 29 seats, while the Congress-NCP would bag between 16-22 seats in Maharashtra.

The survey projected the BJP-led alliance to win at least 42 percent votes while, the Congress-NCP is likely to get 36 percent of the total vote share.
Maharashtra, the second most electorally crucial state, sends 48 MPs to the Lok Sabha.

However, there`s some bad news for the principle opposition party as its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi`s popularity has taken a beating. The poll survey said that though the Gujarat Chief Minister is still way ahead of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in the PM`s race, his popularity has gone down by 9 percent.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led by Arvind Kejriwal is projected to win 5 percent of the total vote share if the elections were to be held today, the survey said. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena-led by Raj Thackeray is predicted to do very well in North Maharashtra and Mumbai.

In Delhi, where the new entrant AAP stunned everyone with its impressive performance in the 2012 Assembly elections, is expected to give a tough fight to the BJP.

The new political outfit and the BJP are expected to win 2-4 seats, while the Congress anything between 0-2. Delhi sends 7 MPs to the Lower House.

However, the AAP`s popularity has also taken a beating in the last two months, with the survey saying that the vote share of the new outfit has gone down in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi and Bihar.
