Explosives stored by Maoists, recovered in Orissa

Security personnel engaged in anti-Naxalite operation today recovered at least 240 kg of liquid explosive stored by the Maoists in a jungle in Orissa`s Koraput district.

According to police, security personnel belonging to Special Operation Group and Border Security Force while conducting a counter insurgency operation near Pachingi forests under Narayanpatna police limits, recovered as many as
40 packets of liquid explosives weighing 240 kg.

The explosive was dumped in a pit. The liquid explosive which is a gel like substance is very powerful. Security men have safely recovered the explosive,? said SP Koraput Anup Kumar Sahoo.

The Maoists would have used the explosive in parts. Around 10 to 12 kg of liquid explosive is used at a time - The SP added.
