New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Friday told reporters here that the party will make its stand clear on forming a government in Delhi only after meeting Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung tomorrow.
“We have received a formal invitation from the Lieutenant Governor today, to meet him at 10.30 am tomorrow to discuss government formation,” Yadav informed.
“We respect his invitation. Our leader Arvind Kejriwal, though unwell, will meet him (L-G) tomorrow and handover a letter to him explaining our position that neither we have the required numbers nor we are the single largest party. We will also tell him that we are not the party that indulges in horse trading,” the senior AAP leader said.
“After we hand over the letter to him, we will release the same to the press tomorrow,” he added.
When asked about the party’s stand on government formation, Yadav said they can’t disclose the details before sharing them with the L-G.
On cobbling up a coalition with either the BJP or Congress, the AAP leader only said that “our stand remains the same”.
Earlier in the day, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas had indicated that the party could form the government in Delhi even though it doesn’t have the required numbers.
Vishwas said that all options are on the table and they are deliberating on all of them.
The recent Assembly elections in Delhi threw up a fractured mandate – BJP won 31 seats in the 70-member House and emerged as the single largest party. AAP, meanwhile, got 28 seats followed by Congress`s eight.
