Malda (WB), Jan 12: The total number of
parliamentary and assembly seats in the country would remain
the same after delimitation and the number of reserved seats
would not be reduced, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R

North Eastern states Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and
Arunachal Pradesh besides Jharkhand have been exempted from
the purview of delimitation. An ordinance to the effect has
been announced, he told newsmen here.

The matter would be discussed and passed in Parliament
in the next session, he said.

Dasmunshi, also the Union Information and Broadcasting

named after Congress veteran A B A Gani Khan Chowdhury, who
represented Malda constituency in Parliament for decades.

"I will talk to the UGC and approach President
Pratibha Patil for this," he said.
