Centre to take decision on Bhullar`s mercy petition

The central government Wednesday told the Supreme Court it will decide on the mercy petition of Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, convicted of terror strike at the Youth Congress office in Delhi in 1993.

New Delhi: The central government Wednesday told the Supreme Court it will decide on the mercy petition of Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, convicted of terror strike at the Youth Congress office in Delhi in 1993.
The centre was allowed two weeks` time after Attorney General GE Vahanvati told the Supreme court bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam that the Jan 6 recommendation of Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to accept the mercy petition has reached the president`s office without the mercy petition.
Vahanvati told the court that the mercy petition along with the recommendation of the lt. governor will be processed by the home ministry and will be sent to President Pranab Mukherjee.

The court directed its next hearing March 10.
