Chennai: Police in Puducherry recovered a pipe bomb on Wednesday near central minister V Narayanasamy`s residence, following which security was beefed up, an officer said.
"The minister`s driver saw some suspicious object near the house around 8.00 or 8.30 am. Police were informed and the object was secured. It was a bomb and was diffused," Puducherry Director General of Police P Kamaraj told a news agency over phone.
Puducherry, a union territory, is around 160 km from here.
Kamaraj said security has been beefed up at Narayanasamy`s residence, adding that no CCTV camera was installed outside the minister`s residence.
