BJP to organise marathons to promote Narendra Modi`s dream project

Bharatiya Janata Party`s MP Anurag Thakur on Monday declared that to promote Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP`s PM aspirant Narendra Modi`s dream project `Statue of Unity`, the party will organise nationwide marathons.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party`s MP Anurag Thakur on Monday declared that to promote Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP`s PM aspirant Narendra Modi`s dream project `Statue of Unity`, the party will organise nationwide marathons.

"We will organize nationwide marathons to promote the `Statue of Unity` of Shri Sardar Patel," Anurag Thakur said.

Modi had announced construction of the largest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat during an election rally ahead of the Assembly polls.

"It would become a monument of India`s unity in the true sense," Modi had said.

The BJP senior leader had further said that the statue would be formed by molding the used iron farming tools.

Meanwhile, a 14-member delegation from Gujarat including a cabinet minister, MLAs, MPs, presidents of district panchayats and senior officials paid a visit to Nagaland today, campaigning for donation of agricultural tools for constructing the the "Statue of Unity".

Talking to reporters after a brief meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at the Heritage Bamboo Hall in Kisama this afternoon here, Gujarat minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramanlal Vora said the world`s tallest 182 metre statue coined as the `Statue of Unity` would be built on the banks of River Narmada under the aegis of `The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust`.

Used iron farming tools would be collected from every village as donation and would be used for constructing the statue, he said, adding the campaign would start from December 15 on the death anniversary of Patel.

Rio added unity was the country`s priority and assured all cooperation to the delegation.
