Ludhiana, May 10: Asserting that the country is in
the grip of a severe crisis, BJP President Rajnath Singh on Sunday
held the Congress responsible for it and promised complete
waiver of outstanding farmers` loans besides giving them new
ones at four per cent interest if NDA is voted to power.

"The country is passing through a severe crisis from
outside as well as from inside and the Congress is responsible
for it," Singh said addressing a poll rally of the NDA here.

Blaming the Congress for "largescale poverty and
unemployment", the BJP leader said the country can progress
only if the purchasing power of the farmers increases.

Noting that it is time policies were framed keeping in
mind the prosperity of farnmers, he said if NDA is voted to
power it will completely waive off the outstanding loans of
farmers and will provide loans to them at four per cent rate
of interest.

Slamming the UPA for what he called its failure to
contain inflation, he attributed the rise in prices of
essential commodities to the UPA`s "economic mismanagment"
claiming that the NDA kept it under check.
