Ranchi: BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday asked the Centre to end its "war on the poor" by putting a cap on rising inflation.
"We are not in the government. It is the Congress
which has launched a war on the poor by 18 percent inflation
on food items," Jaitley said, hitting out at Congress leader
Rahul Gandhi`s remarks on the Opposition for being in the "India Shining-mode" and ignoring the poor.
Gandhi had yesterday told at a series of poll meetings
in Jharkhand, mocking the Opposition on their erstwhile India
Shining slogan and ignoring poverty as an issue.
Addressing a press conference here, Jaitley claimed
that India was the only country where prices of essential
commodities had been rising ceaselessly following `wrong
policies of the Centre`.
"The Congress has been harping on development in
Jharkhand, little realising that it was the centre-point of
corruption for 23 months," he said.
"It will be half-truth if only Koda is responsible for
the record corruption as the UPA is equally responsible for
being the centre-point for all corruption," claimed Jaitley.
