BJP accuses Nitish of giving small venue for Narendra Modi`s rally

Accusing the Bihar government for allotting a "small" ground for its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi`s rally in Muzaffarpur on March 3, BJP on Sunday expressed fear that there could be law and order problems due to limited capacity of the venue.

Patna: Accusing the Bihar government for allotting a "small" ground for its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi`s rally in Muzaffarpur on March 3, BJP on Sunday expressed fear that there could be law and order problems due to limited capacity of the venue.

The Muzaffarpur district administration has deliberately alloted a small venue at the police line housing maidan with a capacity of only 15,000-20,000 people for Modi`s meet at the behest of the Chief Minister, BJP state unit chief Mangal Pandey alleged in a statement.

BJP had demanded both, training and residential parts, of the police line ground for the meeting to accommodate large number of people expected to turn up, but regrettably the district administration has allotted only the residential part of the venue, he said.
Alleging that the decision to allot "small" venue for Modi`s public meeting in Muzaffarpur was taken at Kumar`s behest, Pandey charged the Chief Minister with discriminating with BJP over petty issues like allotment of venue for meet out of vengeance amid survey reports that the JD(U) may not get to open its account in the General Elections.
BJP claimed that there could be law and order problems at Modi`s second rally in Bihar next month as over one lakh people, who expected to turn up for the meet, will jostle for space, jeopardising Gujarat Chief Minister`s life.

The party warned the state government, saying that the Bihar Chief Minister will be squarely responsible if something untoward happened.

Modi`s public meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on October 27 last year was rocked by serial blasts in which seven people were killed and scores of other injured.

The JD(U) and BJP had traded barbs over security arrangements at Modi`s rally in Patna.
