New Delhi: Concerned over skeletons coming out after the arrest of Syndicate Bank CMD S K Jain, a BJP member on Thursday asked the government to direct the CBI to prepare a time-bound action plan to probe corruption in state-run banks which are running high NPAs.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Kirit Somaiya said "corruption has hit public sector banks and the Syndicate Bank case is an eye-opener."
He said there have been cases in which private companies have been responsible for "high non-performing assets (NPAs) or bad debts and the banks` officials give them loan again."
Demanding stringent action against the culprits, he said the government should direct the CBI to prepare a time-bound action plan to check corruption in state-run banks and nexus of their officials with private companies.
Ramesh Pokhrial (BJP) made a strong plea for the Centre to build roads in flood-hit Uttarakhand on a war-footing as they have been damaged extensively following last year`s devastation caused by massive landslides.
