New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party is said to be looking to shift its Delhi office from its current location after locals in the area complained about the noise and disturbance caused by the constant stream of party workers and the media.
The party operates from a two-story residential building at 41, Hanuman Road in central Delhi. The property is owned by an NRI who rented out to Arvind Kejirwal`s party for a token rent of Rs 1 per month.
The AAP`s headquarters is located in Kaushambi in Ghaziabad.
Party leaders have been quoted as saying that they had identified a suitable building in Rajendra Nagar but the deal did not work out. Also, the party is keen to have an office in central Delhi itself.
And, the Kaushambi office would be merged with the Delhi office, they added.
Reports also claimed that AAP has written to union urban development ministry to allot it a plot as it is a state party. However, the party is yet to hear from the Centre.
AAP had put up an impressive performance in the assembly election in December 2013. Kejriwal went on to form the government only to resign after 48 days.
The party then spread out across the country and contested from 440 seats in the Lok Sabha. Kejriwal himself contested against Narendra Modi from Varanasi.
The party won four Lok Sabha seats, all in Punjab.
The AAP is now restructuring itself so as to be ready for the challenge when assembly elections are held next in Delhi.
