New Delhi: A day after the Aam Aadmi Party accused some top BJP leaders of attempting to destabilise the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi, the supporters of the party on Tuesday launched a protest outside the residence of the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley.

However, the AAP supporters who were the first to protest, chanting slogans against Jaitley, soon had competitors with scores of BJP workers arriving at the site, holding their own protests.

If AAP supporters held placards with “Down with Arun Jaitley” written on them, the BJP placards flashed - "Arvind Kejriwal chor hai (Kejriwal is a thief)".

In wake of the protests, heavy security has been put in place outside Jaitley`s residence.

Jaitley meanwhile, appeared outside his house and reiterated what he had posted in his tweet, accusing the AAP of staging a politics of falsehood and deceit.

Talking to the reporters outside his house, Jaitley hailed the presence of BJP protesters, and slammed the AAP supporters` protest as a mere political gimmickry.

"Those who can`t govern, they use such gimmicks... it is a politics of falsehood and fraud," said Jaitley.

The protests come after the BJP leader in a tweet rubbished the claims of AAP made yesterday in which the party blamed Jaitley, along with other BJP leaders Narendra Modi and Harsh Vardhan of trying to allure AAP candidates with money and position to break away from Kejriwal.

Also, rejecting the claims by an AAP leader Madan Lal, Jaitley said, "Neither Modi nor me know who this Madan Lal is".
AAP launched a scathing attack on the BJP yesterday in a press conference at the Constitution Club with AAP leader Sanjay Singh saying, "The BJP is scared of the AAP`s rising popularity. Narendra Modi, Arun Jaitley and Harsh Vardhan are conspiring to bring down the Delhi government," Sanjay Singh said in the press conference.

Also, Madan Lal, an AAP MLA from Kasturba Nagar, alleged that he was approached multiple times with offers of money and position to make him break away from the AAP resulting in the fall of the government.

Lal said he was first approached on the intervening night of December 7-8 when he received a call from an international location. The caller offered to fix a meeting with Arun Jaitley the next morning, Lal said, adding, the call was routed in such a manner that he could not call back.

“I said shut up (to the caller),” Lal said.

However, the AAP leader said that he had no evidence to buttress the allegations against the BJP.
