Thane: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two youth near Varvatne village in neighbouring Raigad district of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.

Both the accused were arrested last evening after the victim lodged a complaint with the police regarding the alleged incident which occurred on Sunday night, said DSP, Roha, Amol Zende.
The youth were identified as Pritam Patil (22) and Devendra Kuthe (23).
Zende said the youth had accosted the girl in a garden at Roha town on Sunday night where she was sitting alone and she told them that she wanted to go to Borivali in suburban Mumbai.

"The duo offered to drop to Nagothane railway station on their bike saying she can catch a train from there to her destination, to which she agreed," the officer said.

However, instead of dropping her at Nagothane station, the duo took her to a house at Adivasiwadi opposite Varvatne village and took turns to rape her, he said.

The girl approached Roha police last morning but could not narrate the incident properly. However, after learning that her brother stays nearby police summoned him and registered an FIR after she narrated her ordeal.
Patil and Kuthe are booked under IPC sections for gangrape and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
