MP shocker: Man left dying on the road as cops waited for CM's convoy to pass

Bhopal: In yet another example of increasing insensitivity among our policemen towards the ordinary citizens, a 22-year-old student lay by the roadside writhing in deep pain after being hit by a bus in front of the in-session Vidhan Sabha and later died as the cops on duty waited for Chief Minister's convoy to pass by.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning.

What is even more appalling is the fact that the policemen present there merely lifted the injured youth from the middle of the road and dumped him on the pavement to allow the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan's cavalcade to pass by.

For nearly 45 minutes, the young student Vikas Prasad Soniya lay by the roadside, twisting and turning in trauma as passers-by and the police looked on him as mere spectators.

Vikas, who had suffered severe head injuries after being hit by the speeding bus and loss of blood, later died in the hospital.

However, the tragic story of this student does not end here as he had more to suffer after he was brought to JP Hospital in an ambulance.

As per media reports, he lay in the corridor of cfor more than 20 minutes with no medical attention coming his way.

As per the records, he was brought to the hospital at 11.45 am and it was not until 12.06 pm (as per OPD registry time) that he was attended by the doctors.

They also referred Vikas to Narmada Trauma Centre, where he died two hours later.

His father, Gookul Prasad Soniya, watched helplessly as Vikas died. "My son lay unattended for more than 20 minutes. Doctors failed to clear blood entering my son's throat as the machine was defunct," he father was quoted as saying.

It is an irony that this tragedy has occurred during the tenure of a highly popular CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who often projects himself as the 'Janata Ka Sewak' and a 'Kisan Ka Beta'.
