SSLC, Higher Secondary Exams commence in Kerala

Over 4.76 lakh students Wednesday appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations which commenced at various centres in Kerala, the Gulf and Lakshadweep islands.

Thiruvananthapuram: Over 4.76 lakh students Wednesday appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations which commenced at various centres in Kerala, the Gulf and Lakshadweep islands.

According to Director of Public Instruction MS Jaya, 4,76,373 students, 2,33,034 of them girls, are appearing for this year's exams in 2903 centres,

The students are from government, aided and unaided schools.

Of the regular students, 4,72,921 are writing the examination in the state, while 583 children are appearing for the exam in nine Gulf centres and 813 from few centres in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

The students are writing the examinations in Malayalam, English, Tamil and Kannada mediums.

About 9.33 lakh students are writing the Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary exams which also began today.

The results are expected to be announced by mid-April.
