Mangaluru: In the wake of communal tension in Mangaluru, the Karnataka police have banned the entry of Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik and Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Pravin Togadia in the city.

The founder of Mumbai-based Islamic Research Foundation, Dr Naik is a well-known Islamic orator and was scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a three-day convention organised by the South Karnataka Salafi Movement (SKSM) in the city on January 3.

As reported in The Hindu, a prohibitory order was passed under Section 144 of CrPC to maintain law and order in Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada district, which was recovering from communal tension.
