Bengaluru: A braveheart Karnataka woman police officer has resigned in protest against the Siddaramaiah government's alleged patronage to the liquor mafia, said reports on Tuesday.
Anupama Shenoy resigned as Kudligi Deputy Superintendent of Police on Monday and challenged Karnataka Labour Minister PT Parameshwar Naik to quit for allegedly getting her transferred for not answering his phone calls.
"I have resigned already, Parameshwara Naik, when will you?" Shenoy posted on his Facebook page.
Shenoy had earlier taken to Facebook to attack the liquor mafia prevailing in Kudligi and the alleged protection they were receiving from the Congress government in the state.
She had faced protests from the liquor mafia during her posting as Kudligi Deputy Superintendent before she finally she quit the police force.
It is believed that Shenoy had quit as she was upset with the protests by liquor shop owners against the detention of three persons who wanted to construct an extension to the building housing their liquor shop.
She was earlier transferred twice because she allegedly did not answer a phone call from PT Parameshwar Naik, the Labour Minister, who is also district in-charge minister of Kudligi.
However in her resignation letter, Shenoy claimed that she was quitting due to personal reasons.
When quizzed by the reporters, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Naik feigned ignorance and said that they were not aware of her resignation.
