A bench of justices J Chelameswar and AK Sikri granted the relief as the accused is suffering from various ailments but directed him not to leave Bangalore.

The court said the Karnataka government is at liberty to take all steps to ensure that he does not get in touch with witnesses in the case, including putting him under surveillance.

The apex court had earlier denied the bail plea of Maudany and had directed the Karnataka government to provide medical treatment to him.
