Bangalore rape case: Minor girl taken to hospital, NCW strongly reacts

In yet another heinous crime against women, a minor girl has allegedly been raped in Begur district of Bangalore.

Bangalore: In yet another heinous crime against women, a minor girl has allegedly been raped in Begur district of Bangalore.
The eight-year old girl was raped by strangers while returning from school. The strangers abducted the girl and took her to an isolated place. As per the police, rape may have happened in under construction building.

While the girl has been admitted to St John`s hospital, Additional Commissioner Kamal Pant said that the victim has not told anything as of now and the police will first wait for her to get recover before probing further details.

Strongly reacting to the unfortunate incident, National Commission for Women Chairperson Mamta Sharma said that till now such incidents were happening with the adults, but now minor girls are also being targeted. She also said that the case was registered after the girl was admitted to the hospital and that government needs to be more serious and alert.

Sharma further added that there is need to spread awareness at the grassroot level and the Nirbhaya Fund, which is not being used, should be put into action.
