Woman, son killed under train wheels; other son loses hand in Jharkhand

A nine-year-old boy and his mother were run over and killed while his younger brother lost his hand at Sonua in West Singhbhum district on Sunday, police said.

Jamshedpur: A nine-year-old boy and his mother were run over and killed while his younger brother lost his hand at Sonua in West Singhbhum district on Sunday, police said.

The boy, who lived with his parents near the railway tracks, ran out of home after being scolded by parents over a family issue when a speeding train ran him over, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Chakradharpur), Subodh Kumar Jaiswal said.

The boy's mother with her three-year-old younger son in lap rushed out to save him but she too came under the wheels of the train while a hand of her younger son was cut off, he said.

The injured boy was admitted to MGM Hospital here.
