Maoist, four associates held in Jharkhand

A Maoist 'zonal commander' and four of his associates were on Saturday arrested from Rajpur jungles in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, a police officer said here.

Garhwa: A Maoist 'zonal commander' and four of his associates were on Saturday arrested from Rajpur jungles in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, a police officer said here.

Rajendra Singh Kharvar, a self-styled zonal commander of the CPI (Maoist), and four of his accomplices were arrested from the jungles in Chhatisgarh's Balrampur region, Garhwa district Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi said.

He said the arrests led to recovery of explosives.

Kharwar was heading the Mazdoor Kishan Sangram Morcha, the police officer said, adding, the police would take him in remand for interrogation.
