Srinagar: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday killed at least three militants during encounter in Sawjian Sector of Poonch district, report said.

An encounter, currently underway, broke out between security forces and militants early morning today near the LoC.

Meanwhile, the Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir, which was suspended for a day earlier by the state administration in view of the conflict going on in the state, has resumed from Jammu.

On the other hand, the curfew continued in most places of the Valley today as well, as the separatists have decided to extend the protest shutdown for another two days, till July 18.

Curfew has been imposed in the Kashmir Valley since 9 July.

Due to the prevailing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani by Indian security forces, the pilgrims from Jammu towards the Valley are being stopped.

Fearing worsening situation after the death of the Hizbul commander, the authorities had last week imposed curfew in 10 district in Kashmir.

However, a police officer claimed that the mob violated curfew imposition in Kupwara, Baramulla, Sopore, Ganderbal, Rafiabad, Bandipora, Kulgam and Pulwama among other places in the state.
