Soldier killed, infiltration bid foiled in Jammu's Rajouri

Jammu: A soldier was killed on Monday as security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu region, a senior police official said.

"Alert troops noticed suspicious movement on the Indian side of the LoC today (Monday) in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district. Security forces launched a search-and-cordon operation in the hilly terrain and came across a group of infiltrating militants, triggering a gunfight," the official said here.

"A soldier was martyred in the ongoing encounter," he added.

The 740-km LoC divides the state into Indian and Pakistan-held Kashmir.
