New Delhi: India's Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday announced to launch a special drive to unearth cross-border tunnels along the boundary with Pakistan, days after a 50-meter long underground passage was discovered in the Jammu region.
Lt General KJ Singh, GOC, Western Command, said that the BSF has started a process to find out cross-border tunnels along the boundary with Pakistan.
On Thursday, BSF had discovered a 50-meter long tunnel at the border to facilitate infiltration from Pakistan. It was discovered in Jammu's RS Pura sector.
Expressing concern over the discovery of a tunnel in the border region, Singh said it was definitely not used for smuggling but for infiltration.
"The tunnel has a height of three to four feet and its objective is to facilitate infiltration from across the border. We have filled up the tunnel on our side and lodged a strong protest with the Pakistan Rangers," an official said.
