Kashmiri Pandits to set up martyr memorial in J&K

"We demand one place settlement and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits called as Kashyap Bhoomi, a separate homeland for Kashmiri Pandits in Valley," General Secretary All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) Dr T K Bhat said.

"We have all parties resolved in one voice for creation of Kashyap Bhoomi at Balidan Divas of Kashmiri Pandits who were killed by terrorists in Valley after emergence of militancy in 1990," he said.

The community leaders also resolved to press Central and State governments for the passage of KP Shrines and Temples bill which will ensure safety and security of temples and their properties in Kashmir Valley.

Members and office-bearers of various KP organisation paid tributes to martyrs and resolved to set up a martyr memorial in Jammu and create a data bank of martyrs in the shape of a book.

ASKPC Chief Ravinder Raina promised that its organization will work as a nodal agency to fulfill all these demands and take up the issues with the government.

Terming the situation as not conducive at present for return and rehabilitation of KPs, former Chief Secretary Vijay Bakaya said we need to work for collective response of the community on the issue of rehabilitation.

Asserting that it was difficult for Kashmiri Pandits to live in different places in Kashmir Valley at their ancestral places, APMCC Chief Vinod Pandit said that KPs can be only settled and rehabilitated at one place as a matter of safety and their security.

He also vow to set up a martyr memorial in Jammu within one year to pay tributes to martyrs who laid down their lives for survival of Kashmiri Pandit community in the Valley since a century.

Swami Kumar Ji announced that he will offer his land at his Ashram for setting up of the memorial and batting strongly for starting a movement for passage of Temples and Shrines bill in Kashmir valley.

KPs strongly condemned terrorism and fundamentalism unleashed in Kashmir valley since 1990 and fully backed and aided by Pakistan.
